Recent Camera Updates for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus

Apple is aiming to enhance the differentiation between its premium Pro models and the more budget-friendly variants within the upcoming iPhone 15 series. According to an analysis by Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Securities, both the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will feature the same primary camera as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This camera will boast a 48MP lens with a three-stacked sensor. This sensor will enable it to capture more light and enhance image quality. The details were discovered by MacRumors.

Pu highlighted that, despite the advancements in imaging capabilities, supply chain issues have been reported concerning the stacked sensor. These challenges have resulted in lower production yields. This caused delays in manufacturing of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. As a consequence, customers may experience longer waiting times. Furthermore, the production delays could also affect the Pro models, given their anticipated utilization of the same sensor.

The report did not provide explicit clarification on this potential issue. But it is likely that the two categories of iPhones employ different lenses sourced from various suppliers. Moreover, Apple may choose to reserve the enhanced video recording features exclusively for the Pro versions.

Additionally, it is worth noting that these iPhone 15 models will not include telephoto units. However, thanks to the dedicated Image Signal Processor (ISP) incorporated in the A17 Bionic chipset, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to deliver superior image quality right from the outset.
