Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently met with prominent Qatari business leaders to present Pakistan as a top investment destination. His two-day visit to Doha came after securing $600 million in investment pledges during his recent trip to Saudi Arabia. The visit aimed to deepen economic ties and attract investment across Pakistan’s key sectors.
Meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister
During the visit, PM Shehbaz held a productive discussion with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. He invited Qatari investors to explore Pakistan’s diverse economic opportunities, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and finance. Later, he met with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and toured the ‘Manzar’ art gallery, which showcases works by Pakistani artists.
Engagement with the Qatar Businessmen Association
PM Shehbaz also met with the Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA), led by Chairman Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani. The delegation included leading Qatari business figures from influential sectors. In the meeting, PM Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s promising investment landscape. Highlighting energy, infrastructure, and technology, he presented Pakistan as an ideal hub for business growth.
Interest in Pakistani Projects
Qatari delegates expressed strong interest in Pakistan’s economic potential. In particular, they were keen on upcoming projects in energy and infrastructure. Both sides discussed collaboration in areas that could drive job creation, technology advancements, and sustainable growth in both countries. The meeting reflected the shared vision for regional economic stability and growth.
Key Figures and Officials in Attendance
The gathering included notable figures like the CEOs of Al Mana Group and Blue Salon, the executive director of Mannai Corporation, and the regional chairman of Deutsche Bank. Key Pakistani officials, including Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, were also present to support the talks.
Departure from Doha
After a series of successful meetings, PM Shehbaz departed from Doha. Qatar’s Minister of State for Reconciliation, Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, bid him farewell, marking the end of an impactful visit focused on strengthening Pakistan-Qatar economic partnerships.
