Saudi Arabia recently detained several healthcare professionals who forced elderly patients into inappropriate acts. These doctors coerced patients to kiss their hands and shared videos of these incidents on social media. Arrests occurred in Riyadh, Jazan, and Tabuk. Legal action now targets the offenders, as these actions violate professional standards and health regulations.
Authorities began investigating after observing disturbing videos shared by these individuals. These videos showed disrespectful treatment, including inappropriate language and actions that compromised patient dignity. This behavior raised serious concerns in the healthcare sector and highlighted the need for strict ethical conduct. The Ministry of Health stressed that such actions not only break ethical rules but also harm patient trust.
The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to high standards in patient care and to protecting all patients, especially vulnerable ones. According to Saudi Arabia’s Law of Practicing Healthcare Professions, medical practitioners must respect human dignity and ensure patient safety. The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties also strictly prohibits photographing or sharing patient images, except in limited cases, such as research.
Violators risk severe penalties, including loss of their licenses. The ministry further reminded healthcare professionals about restrictions on self-promotion, as self-advertising is tightly regulated and allowed only in specific cases.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s Anti-Cybercrime Law enforces strict penalties for content that violates public morals, including up to five years in prison and fines of up to 3 million riyals. This case underlines Saudi Arabia’s dedication to safeguarding public values and upholding high ethical standards in healthcare.
