5G Technology Will be Launched Soon in Pakistan

According to Federal Minister of IT and Telecommunication, Syed Aminul Haque, 5G technology will be introduced first in the major cities of the country. A delegation led by Etisalat International CEO Mikhail Gerchuk met with the minister. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication aims to begin “trial coverage” of 5G services at specific locations in major cities later this year.

An official of the ministry said, “Future of technology in Pakistan is linked to introducing 5G technology and the ministry is taking all possible steps to make new technology business-friendly,”

He encouraged telecom companies to bring modern technology to Pakistan. and stated that the Ministry of IT was fully supporting them in this effort. He also emphasized that providing broadband services throughout the country was a major priority for the government. Additionally, he mentioned that through the Universal Service Fund (USF), the Ministry of IT had initiated around 70 projects. It has a budget of Rs. 65 billion, for the development of optical fiber cable (OFC) and broadband infrastructure in four provinces.

During the meeting, Secretary IT Mohsin Mushtaq Chandna, Etisalat Pakistan CEO Abdulrahim Abdulla Abdulrahim Al Nooryani, PTCL & Ufone CEO Hatem Bamatraf, and Group Chief Regulatory Officer Naveed Khalid Butt were in attendance. The Minister stated that the government’s primary objective is to extend the coverage of 4G technology throughout the country.

The Federal Minister emphasized that the introduction of 5G technology is crucial for the future of technology in Pakistan. He urged companies and other stakeholders to make preparations for promoting sustainable and inclusive technological growth.
