Babar Azam holds the record for the most runs in a calendar year

Babar Azam, the Pakistani batsman and star player achieved another milestone. Babar has broken Muhammad Yousaf’s sixteen years old record. After surpassing Muhammad Yousaf’s total of 2435 runs in 2006, Babar Azam currently owns the record for the most runs scored by a Pakistani batter in a year.

Babar achieved this milestone in the first match when he scored 120 runs against New Zealand.

Babar breaks another record on the first day of a test match against New Zealand. Scoring a half-century also means he now holds the record for most fifties in a calendar year. This was Babar’s 25th 50+ score, surpassing Ricky Ponting’s record of 24 in 2005.
Despite the disappointing performance of the Pakistani team in Test cricket this year, the skipper stands out in the format with more than 1000 runs in nine matches. In this calendar year, only three other batters scored more than 1000 runs in Tests.
The 28-year-old has also shown similar consistency in ODI cricket this year, scoring 679 runs in nine matches. In 8 out of 9 games, he has registered scores of 50 or more.
Babar Azam is a world-class batsman, and currently, he is in the top 5 in all formats of cricket. According to the latest ICC Rankings, Babar is the number 1 batsman in the ODI format. Babar ranks at number 2 in the test cricket format and number 4 in the t20s.
