Senior police and bureaucratic officials in Islamabad have received one-kanal plots at ridiculously low prices, far below market value. This has raised concerns over fairness and transparency.
In Sector E-11, plots worth Rs. 100 million were sold for Rs. 1.57 million. In Sector O-9, Additional IG Punjab Bilal Siddique Kamyana received a plot for just Rs. 500,000, though its market value was Rs. 30 million.
NPF Managing Director Sabir Ahmed defended the allocations. He stated that vacant plots could be reallocated at their original prices if previous owners lost contact. However, many question the ethics of these significant price gaps.
The issue has sparked legal challenges. Former DIG Shahid Iqbal is suing the NPF over the cancellation of his plot. A former legal adviser claims the NPF favors top officials.
The situation worsened when former interior secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani issued a regulatory order just before retiring. He extended the NPF director’s term and granted the organization more autonomy—both of which violate society rules.
Public trust in the NPF is now in question. These actions demand closer scrutiny to ensure fairness and accountability.
