Google launches its first Pixel Smartwatch

Google unveiled its latest flagship phones as well as its first-ever Pixel Watch smartwatch. It runs on Wear OS 3.5, but inside it’s mostly like a Fitbit watch, as all its fitness features are taken directly from it.

The Google Pixel Watch will be available in a single 41mm size, but with two different Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity variants. It has a small 1.2-inch circular screen with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits and Always On support. It looks like a regular wristwatch as its entire user interface is black and matches well with the thick black bezel around it.

The dome-shaped dial also completes the look, and the chassis is made of stainless steel for durability. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and the only physical button is on the right side for navigating the user interface. Thanks to its 5ATM water resistance, it is suitable for bathing and showering.

It has your usual health tracking features like a heart rate sensor and an EKG sensor for more accurate readings. It has many integrations from the Fitbit team for accurate algorithms for better health tracking. It can even tell you when you need to stop and rest.

Instead of its Tensor chip for its smartphones, Google used the Exynos 9110 chip for the Watch, which has been in use since 2018. It brings 2GB of RAM, and Google says the battery should last all day.

The Google Pixel Watch (Wi-Fi) will cost $350, while the LTE version will be available for $400. There will be a range of straps to choose from and you will also get an “Active” silicone strap in the package. There are also woven metal and leather bands.
