JS Bank supporting new startups through Zindigi Program

JS Bank has launched its social entrepreneurship program called Zindigi Prize. The program is focused on getting grassroots ideas and providing ambitious student entrepreneurs with mentoring and funding to successfully tackle Pakistan’s biggest social challenges.

The Zindigi Award was inaugurated at the National Incubation Center in Islamabad and was attended by Vice Chancellors from universities across Pakistan.The event was also attended by thought leaders from the startup and education sector, including the National Information and Technology Board (NITB), Ministry of IT and Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), supporting Zindigi’s mission of empowering the youth of Pakistan.

Dr. Shaista Sohail, Executive Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC) was invited as the Chief Guest and Aisha Humera Chaudhry, Additional Secretary, IT & Telecom, Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) attended as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Shaista emphasized the importance of social entrepreneurship programs at a time when Pakistan is bearing the brunt of global climate change. In her interview, she urged universities to organize their research for curricula to ensure education hits the industry’s pain points.

The unveiling of the trophy for the Zindigi Award was conducted by Noman Azhar, Chief Officer-Zindigi, who added, “The youth of Pakistan are full of bright ideas that can change lives; however, they do not have the proper training or platforms to implement these ideas. We want to challenge young people to solve the most pressing problems around them through social entrepreneurship and develop their thinking towards it.”
