Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original has been announced. This star-studded debut will feature Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, and Ahad Raza Mir in leading roles. This highly anticipated series is set to capture hearts worldwide, marking a monumental step for Pakistani entertainment.
An official adaptation of Farhat Ishtiaq’s bestselling 2013 Urdu-language novel of the same name, this debut series has set some high expectations. Ishtiaq has previously adapted several of her novels into groundbreaking Pakistani television including “Humsafar,” “Mere Humdum Mere Dost,” “Matae Jaan Hai Tu,” “Diyar-e-Dil,” “Bin Roye” and “Yaqeen Ka Safar”.
The plot of the Netflix-adapted book threads through the lives of two compelling characters: Sikandar, a Harvard law student who experiences a life-changing incident that makes him keep others at bay, and Liza, a gifted artist who is bursting with life but has had a troubled past. As their paths cross, a profound and captivating tale of human connection unfolds.
As if the plot hadn’t already captured our hearts, the series powerhouse cast just adds to our anticipation. It features Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, who previously acted together in “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” Pakistan’s highest-grossing film. Interestingly, the duo has also previously starred in the popular television show “Humsafar”, also based on Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel.
Two more pivotal roles are spearheaded by, Sanam Saeed, who was one of the leads in Zindagi series “Barzakh” alongside Fawad Khan and has previously shared the screen with him in Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Ahad Raza Mir, who featured in the Netflix series “Resident Evil” and made a splash in Season 2 of the BBC’s “World on Fire,” is also among the lead cast.
That isn’t all, completing the ensemble is Hamza Ali Abbasi, who is renowned for his role in “The Legend of Maula Jatt”, alongside Bilal Ashraf from “Superstar”, Maya Ali known for “Parey Hut Love” , Iqra Aziz from “Raqeeb Se”, Hania Aamir from “Parde Mein Rehne Do”, and Khushaal Khan from “Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri”. Moreover, it also stars Nadia Jamil from “Jo Bichar Gaye”, Omair Rana from “Pinjra” and Samina Ahmed from “Ms. Marvel”.
The series is being produced by Dubai-based Momina Duraid Films FZ – LLC. Momina Duraid, known for works like “Bin Roye,” “Chand Tara,” and “Fairytale,” is leading the project as the showrunner.
Moreover, with filming sites in Italy, the UK, and Pakistan, the series offers visually captivating settings and a cultural environment for the upcoming series. Unfortunately, an official release date is yet to be announced.
