The Federal Minister for Education, Rana Tanveer Hussain, instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all petrol pumps in Islamabad. This move will boost the availability of EV charging stations in Islamabad and support sustainable transport.
At the fourth meeting on Electric Vehicles Policy, the minister made several key decisions. He praised the CDA’s work and announced plans to give free electric bicycles to the top 120 students of the Federal Board. Additionally, the government will offer 39,000 electric bicycles and 1,900 electric rickshaws through subsidized loans.
The minister also reviewed the progress on 40 EV charging stations along motorways and highways. To ensure transparency, the process will be digitized. He emphasized that this project supports the Prime Minister’s vision of turning Islamabad into a model city.
This initiative shows the government’s commitment to eco-friendly transport and reducing the carbon footprint in urban areas.-
