The National Highway Authority (NHA) and Motorway Police have ushered in a significant change for motorists traversing the motorways. As of February 5, 2024, M-Tag registration is now a mandatory requirement for all vehicles navigating the extensive network of motorways across the country.
The decision to make M-Tag registration compulsory comes as part of a strategic effort to enhance the efficiency of entry and exit processes at various motorway points, ultimately ensuring a smooth flow of traffic. While there had been a period during which the M-Tag requirement was relaxed, officials have now reinstated its mandatory status for every vehicle using the motorways.
In light of this new regulation, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) have issued crucial advisories to all motorists. The primary emphasis is on completing the M-Tag registration process promptly to avoid potential penalties.
To facilitate a seamless registration process, officials have recommended that motorists approach the customer care center. At the center, individuals will be required to present their vehicle registration book/card and ID card for verification purposes. This step is crucial to ensuring accurate and secure registration.
In addition to the customer care center assistance, a convenient recharge facility has been introduced at toll plazas. This allows users to manage their M-Tag accounts efficiently, offering a practical solution for ensuring compliance with the new regulation.
The move towards mandatory M-Tag registration reflects a commitment to improving overall traffic management on motorways, prioritizing both the convenience of motorists and the efficient functioning of the transportation network. As motorists adapt to this new requirement, the implementation of such measures is expected to contribute significantly to a more organized and streamlined traffic experience on the motorways.
