Majid Al Futtaim Launches First Solar-Powered Store in Pakistan

Majid Al Futtaim, the exclusive operator of Carrefour in Pakistan, has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the integration of solar energy into its flagship Carrefour store located in the Fortress Stadium. The company has inked a 950KW agreement with Maspro Energy (Pvt) Ltd, marking its inaugural solar-powered store and reinforcing its commitment to a greener future.

This move towards solar energy is poised to make a substantial impact, potentially reducing annual carbon emissions by over 560 thousand kilograms. As a pioneer in adopting eco-friendly practices within the retail industry, Carrefour Pakistan has broader ambitions to implement similar transformations across the majority of its stores. The goal is to ensure that these stores operate on green and sustainable models by the year 2024.

Umer Lodhi, Country Manager, Carrefour Pakistan at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, expressed the company’s dedication to leading sustainable initiatives, emphasizing their commitment to both the environment and the local economy. He stated, “Our transition to green energy reflects our dedication to fostering a greener future for Pakistan.”
