Mobile Services to Remain Suspended in Islamabad During Muharram Processions

As the Islamic month of Muharram arrives, millions of Muslims around the world observe this significant period with solemnity and reverence. For many communities, Muharram culminates in processions to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. In Pakistan, as part of the efforts to maintain security during these processions, the Ministry of Interior has taken a precautionary measure by announcing the suspension of mobile services in certain areas of Islamabad during the 9th and 11th Muharram ul Haram. Let’s delve into the details and understand the reasons behind this decision.

Ensuring Safety and Peace:

The decision to suspend mobile services in specific areas of Islamabad is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the public during the Muharram processions. As large crowds gather to participate in these religious events, there is a need for effective security measures to prevent any untoward incidents. By restricting mobile services in particular zones, the authorities can effectively manage the communication channels, ensuring that miscreants cannot exploit these services to incite violence or create chaos.

Targeted Areas and Timings:

The Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, has identified four specific areas where mobile services will be suspended during the processions. These areas include G-6, G-7, I-10, Shah Allah Ditta, and Bari Imam. The closure of mobile services in these areas will be applicable during the specific timings mentioned below:

Sr. Area Date Time of Closure
1. G-6, G-7 9th Muharram 0100 hrs to 2200 hrs
2. I-10 and Surroundings 9th Muharram 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs
3. Shah Allah Ditta and Surroundings 11th Muharram 1400 hrs to 1900 hrs
4. Bari Imam 11th Muharram 1200 hrs to 1900 hrs

It is important to note that the suspension of mobile services will only be applicable to these specific areas, and the rest of Islamabad will not face any outage.

Promoting a Peaceful Commemoration:

While some might see the suspension of mobile services as an inconvenience, it is crucial to recognize that this measure is taken with the best interests of the public at heart. By ensuring that communication remains regulated during sensitive times, the authorities aim to prevent any attempts to disrupt peace and harmony. The commemoration of Muharram is a sacred occasion for Muslims, and the government’s efforts to promote a peaceful environment during the processions are commendable.

As we enter the holy month of Muharram, it is essential for all citizens to understand and support the security measures put in place by the authorities. The suspension of mobile services in select areas of Islamabad during the 9th and 11th Muharram processions is a precautionary step to safeguard public safety and uphold the sanctity of this solemn occasion. Let us stand united in promoting a peaceful and respectful observance of Muharram, ensuring that the spirit of unity and compassion prevails throughout these commemorations.
