Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, visited Dera Ismail Khan on December 25, 2022. The PM addressed the gathering and discussed the default threat looming in Pakistan in April 2022. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) program was also halted.
“When I took the oath, I wasn’t aware of the gravity of Pakistan’s economic problems. A threat of default was upon us while the IMF program was stalled. We have now averted the default risk but still have many challenges to face,” he said.
But, “We will sail through the economic difficulties,” the PM added.
At this point in his address, the Prime Minister shows that he is incompetent and lacks leadership qualities. It seems that Prime Minister failed to deliver and perform to stabilize the country’s economy.
Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the premier by the National Assembly in April following a no-confidence motion that ousted Imran Khan.
During his address to the public, he announced numerous infrastructure Projects. The PM said the government is focusing on the construction of the DI Khan-Zhob corridor.

“Construction of a new airport is also approved, and I Congratulate the people for it. We will fast-track its construction and establish a sustainable industrial estate adjacent to it which will make DI Khan a hub of industrial and trade activities,” the PM said.
During his visit, the prime minister laid the foundation stones of several development projects in South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the Dera Ismail Khan Division.
The PM also talked about the destructive effects of floods on Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He blamed “flawed planning” for the damage.
“Hotels were made in the middle of rivers that were swept away by flood water,” he said. “The effects of the calamity are still visible throughout Pakistan”.
The PM also claimed that the federal government spent nearly 90 billion rupees on flood aid.
