Punjab will get cheap Electricity; says Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi

Punjab will soon get cheap electricity through green energy projects to be installed across the province, it has been reliably learned here.

Speaking to the German delegation at the weekend, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said a formal memorandum of understanding would be signed with a German company to implement a green energy project. He also ordered that waste-to-energy power plant projects be implemented as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed interest in developing waste-to-energy green power plant projects in Punjab. They talked about setting up a waste-to-energy plant in Lahore and also investing billions of rupees in the project, which would potentially employ 5,000 people.

The Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to complete the key elements of the project as soon as possible, adding that all the concerned departments should settle their affairs expeditiously so that an MoU can be signed in this regard.

He promised that this project will be handled transparently at all levels. He also emphasized the importance of installing green power plants as an urgent need in the light of climate change as it would enable the country to cope with pollution.

The German delegation consisted of middle to senior representatives of the company, including the head of the company’s office, Mr. Carsten.

Sajid Khan Bhatti, Tanvir Shah, Muhammad Jabbar, Mushtaq Gondal, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Hasan, Local Government Secretary, Power Minister, Additional Industries Minister and Special Secretaries from Chief Minister’s Office were also present.
