The Senate of Pakistan approved the National Forensics Agency (NFA). This step aims to boost forensic and digital capabilities. The National Forensics Agency Pakistan will replace the old Forensics Agency Project. It will provide modern forensic services for national security.
The NFA will serve the federal government, provinces, and regions like Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. It will also assist other forensic labs in Pakistan. The agency will focus on digital forensics and maintain a database of evidence.
A board will oversee the NFA. Members include the division secretary, IG Islamabad, NACTA’s national coordinator, and the DG of the National Police Bureau. The director-general must hold only Pakistani citizenship.
The NFA will be tax-free for five years. Employees submitting false reports face up to one year in prison and a Rs. 1,000 fine.
This initiative strengthens forensic services and ensures national security.
