WhatsApp has recently unveiled an exciting new feature for Android users, expanding its functionality with a “search by date” option for both individual and group chats. This addition, previously available on iOS, Mac desktop, and WhatsApp Web, allows users to easily locate specific conversations based on the date of occurrence.
Mark Zuckerberg personally shared the news through his WhatsApp channel, demonstrating the feature in action by searching for an old chat related to Karaoke. Unlike some search options, this feature focuses on pinpointing conversations on a specific date rather than within a date range.
To utilize this convenient feature, users can navigate to one-on-one or group chat details by tapping on the respective contact or group name. Subsequently, tapping the search button and selecting the calendar icon will enable users to search for chats on a specific date.
WhatsApp has been actively testing various search-related features, including chat filters like “All,” “Unread,” “Contacts,” and “Groups.” Recent reports from WABetaInfo suggest that the company is also experimenting with a new “Favorites” filter, facilitating a quick review of starred messages.
In December, the messaging platform introduced chat filters, and the company continues to refine these features. More recently, WhatsApp announced support for enhanced text formatting options such as bulleted lists, numbered lists, block quotes, and inline code for both individual and group chats, complemented by the introduction of Channels.
WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user experience is evident through these updates, providing users with enhanced search capabilities and additional tools for communication and organization. Stay tuned for further innovations as WhatsApp continues to evolve its platform.
