Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has made a significant move towards women’s empowerment in Punjab by establishing driving schools across the province. This initiative aims to equip women with essential driving skills, promoting their independence and mobility.
Four driving schools have been set up to teach women both motorcycling and car driving. These include Abshar Driving School on Jail Road, Women on Wheels School on Ferozepur Road, Liberty Service Center Driving School, and Manawan Traffic Lines Driving School. Classes are scheduled from 8 am to 4 pm, accommodating various schedules.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore highlighted that the driving schools offer a women-to-women service, with female instructors guiding and assisting the learners. This approach ensures a comfortable learning environment for women.
In addition to this initiative, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif previously launched the Clinics on Wheels project, deploying 200 mobile clinics to serve 4 million people in Punjab. These clinics focus on areas where accessing hospital care is challenging, particularly in densely populated urban regions.
