Despite the Punjab government’s promises to regulate prices, Lahore dairy prices hike have soared. Milk and yogurt vendors across the city have raised their rates significantly, citing rising operational expenses as the primary reason. Consequently, the price of milk has surged from PKR 180 to PKR 200 per liter, while yogurt now costs between PKR 220 and PKR 230 per kilogram—marking a hike of PKR 20–30 per kilogram in various parts of the city.
Dairy sellers argue that these price increases were unavoidable due to rising production and supply chain costs. However, citizens have expressed deep frustration, accusing the authorities of failing to act. Many residents feel abandoned, claiming no accountability for the price hikes. As a result, they demand that the government step up efforts to regulate prices and ensure fair market practices.
This situation underscores the growing financial strain on citizens and raises questions about the effectiveness of price control measures in Lahore. Addressing this issue requires swift and coordinated efforts to balance consumer relief and vendor sustainability.
