The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) formed a seven-member committee. It aims to reform the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
The committee focuses on transparency, reducing errors, and adopting technology. It will also propose a unified syllabus and timely scheduling after intermediate exams.
PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj chaired the meeting. He thanked the committee for their efforts.
Committee Chairman Prof. Dr. Suhail Amin shared updates on MDCAT 2024. Over 167,000 candidates appeared from Pakistan, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia. He highlighted inconsistencies in test difficulty and weak predictive scores.
The committee emphasized introducing cognitive and ethical content. It supported e-assessments with secure systems.
Three sub-committees will lead reforms. They will finalize syllabus, technology, and policies. Drafts will be ready by December.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj reaffirmed PMDC’s commitment to fairness. He urged swift action to rebuild trust.
