The District Health Authority (DHA) has started registrations for the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Insulin Program. This program provides free insulin for children under 14 diagnosed with diabetes. It primarily focuses on improving access to essential treatments for young patients across Punjab. In fact, it guarantees free insulin for children in need.
To make the process more accessible, DHA has set up Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) clinics at Tehsil and District Headquarters Hospitals (THQs and DHQs) throughout Rawalpindi district. These clinics are conveniently located in Kahuta, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, Kotli Sattian, and Murree.
According to DHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi, parents can easily register their children in three ways:
- By visiting the NCD clinics.
- By calling the helpline at 1033.
- By using the program’s mobile app.
Once registered, DHA will deliver insulin and glucometers directly to patients’ doorsteps. Additionally, they will store the supplies in ice to maintain quality. Furthermore, the program provides counseling to guide parents on diabetes management and preventive care. This ensures that children receive the necessary support in managing their condition.
Dr. Niazi emphasized the rising number of diabetes cases among children, noting the urgent need for this initiative. He also highlighted how the program ensures timely treatment. Moreover, he confirmed that DHA has made all necessary arrangements. Once they finalize the data, DHA will begin distributing insulin. Consequently, this initiative marks a significant step in promoting healthier lifestyles for children in Punjab.
