Deepinder Goyal, the CEO and founder of Zomato, leaves the office to deliver orders on New Year’s evening. While most people celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends or family, Deepinder Goyal was out delivering orders.
Food aggregators like Zomato see a massive spike in orders on special moments like the evening of December 31. So Goyal decided to do his part.
“I’m going to deliver a couple of orders on my own right now. Should be back in an hour or so,” Zomato Founder, Deepinder Goyal tweeted on December 31.
“My first delivery brought me back to the Zomato office. Lolwut!” he tweeted within minutes of posting the first tweet, telling his followers of his new job.

Deepinder Goyal also posted an image of himself, clothed in the signature red jacket of Zomato. The CEO delivered a total of 4 orders, one of them to an elderly couple celebrating New Year’s Eve with their grandchildren, Goyal said in his tweet.
This isn’t the first time that Goyal has taken on the role of delivery person at his company.
Deepinder also shared in a tweet that orders delivered by Zomato on December 31 evening exceeded all the orders delivered in the first 3 years of the food delivery service.
He also said the orders on December 31, 2022, were 45% higher than last year’s.
Zomato is an Indian multinational restaurant aggregator and food delivery company founded by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah in 2008. Zomato provides information, user reviews, and menus of restaurants as well as food delivery options from partner restaurants in selective cities. As of 2019, the service is available in 24 countries and in more than 10,000 cities.
