Severe Cold Wave Hits Pakistan, Islamabad Reaches 0°C

Pakistan is currently facing a severe cold wave, with temperatures plummeting across the country. The northern regions are experiencing the brunt of this extreme weather, as the Pakistan Cold Wave Alert warns of record-breaking lows. The cold wave is making daily life difficult, particularly in the mountainous areas, where the Pakistan Cold Wave Alert highlights even harsher conditions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirms freezing conditions across various cities and towns. Leh recorded the coldest night, with temperatures dropping to a frigid -9°C. Kalam, Kalat, and Gupis followed closely with lows of -6°C.

Quetta recorded a chilly -5°C, while Skardu, Malam Jabba, Dir, and Chitral saw temperatures of -4°C. Parachinar, Hunza, Durosh, and Astore also reported lows of -3°C. Even Islamabad, the nation’s capital, reached a freezing 0°C, marking an unusual cold spell for a major city.

This cold wave has disrupted daily routines, especially in northern regions where harsh conditions make travel and daily activities challenging. With frigid temperatures continuing, residents are struggling to cope with the severe weather.

Authorities are urging everyone to take precautions to stay warm and safe. People in affected areas should avoid unnecessary travel and ensure their homes are properly heated to combat the cold.

This severe cold wave highlights the need for winter preparedness, particularly in areas prone to extreme conditions. Communities should come together to help vulnerable individuals and ensure they have access to essential resources during this difficult time.

As Pakistan continues to face these freezing temperatures, the primary focus remains on safety, preparation, and support for those in need.
