Now You Can Delete Threads Account Without Deleting Instagram

In a recent update from Meta, the social media giant, it has been announced that users can now delete Threads accounts without the need to delete their entire Instagram profiles. Initially, the text-oriented social media service Threads experienced rapid growth, amassing 100 million users within just five days of its introduction in early July. However, a significant drawback emerged – users were unable to delete Threads accounts without eliminating their entire Instagram presence. This limitation has now been addressed.

Instagram Head, Adam Mosseri, revealed the removal of this restriction on his official social accounts. Users seeking to exit Threads can now do so by navigating to Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile. These options allow users to either temporarily suspend or permanently delete their Threads accounts, offering more flexibility without impacting their Instagram accounts.

Meta has also made adjustments to Threads’ post visibility on other Meta platforms like Facebook. Users can now control this visibility by navigating to Settings > Privacy. It’s crucial to note that these changes apply specifically to Facebook, and Threads posts will continue to be visible on Instagram regardless of these settings.

While Threads initially experienced a decline in popularity, recent developments suggest a gradual recovery. This resurgence coincided with a decline in downloads for Twitter following its X rebranding and valuation loss after Elon Musk’s takeover. Threads’ recent success is attributed to the introduction of several features that were initially absent, including a web version, keyword search, voice posts, an edit button, and more.

In October, Threads showcased notable growth with 33 million daily active users and 120 million monthly active users, marking a substantial increase from September’s 25 million daily users and 100 million monthly users. As Threads gains momentum, it will be interesting to see how it continues to evolve in the competitive social media landscape. Stay tuned for further updates on this intriguing development.
