Former Pakistan Captian, Shahid Afridi laid the foundation stone of a cricket academy at Saryab Road, Quetta. This initiative is taken by Shahid Afridi Foundation in collaboration with the Balochistan Government. The foundation ceremony was held at Saryab Sports Complex on 16 January 2023.

Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Abdul Qudous Bizenjo also attended the foundation ceremony. Provincial ministers, MPAs, and the Chief Secretary of Balochistan also participated in the ceremony.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said today is a big day for the youth of Balochistan. We are providing a platform for the youth of the province to show their skills through sports.
“There is no lack of talent among the youth of Balochistan and they are fond of cricket.” The CM said the provincial government would fully cooperate with the Shahid Afridi Foundation. The Cricket Academy would be completed in three months,” he added.
Shahid Afridi said it was always a pleasure for him to come to Balochistan. He promised that the talented players of the province would be allowed to play in the national team. “I wish Balochistan to have its own cricket league,” Afridi said.
“To empower youth, you need to equip them with two tools Education and Sports. This cricket Academy in Balochistan will offer just that. I’m grateful to the government of Balochistan for supporting our foundation in providing opportunities to the immensely talented youth of the province,” he added.
This cricket academy will play an important role in the development of sports in the province. It will bring a lot of opportunities for the youth of the province.
