Hugh Jackman as Wolverine team up with Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has just announced that Hugh Jackman is joining the third installment of his popular superhero franchise to reprise his longtime role as Wolverine.

There is a lot of talk about Deadpool’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Fans were disappointed when there was no news of a ‘Merc with a Mouth’ at Disney’s D23 event, but Reynolds didn’t leave them hanging for long, quietly dropping a video announcement on Twitter yesterday.

The video features a hilarious montage of Reynolds talking about introspection and “soul searching” as he wants his character’s MCU debut to be special. After much thought and brainstorming, he says he has nothing but one idea. Look at that.

That is right. The actor, who plays Marvel’s motormouth superhero, nonchalantly asks his friend Hugh Jackman to play his iconic Wolverine one more time, to which he replies: “Yeah, sure, Ryan.”

The video ends with Whitney Houston’s classic I Will Always Love You adapted to I Will Always Love ‘Hugh’.

The official release date of Deadpool 3 is September 6, 2024.

This is certainly a big announcement as fans can’t wait to see Jackman reprise his iconic role.

He first appeared as Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men, then went on to play the character in several sequels and spin-offs, ending with 2017’s Logan, which he stated was his last appearance as Wolverine. Regardless, Reynolds finally got Jackman to step back into the boots and claws of Wolverine once more, much to the delight of their fans.

Note that Hugh holds the Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero” for playing Wolverine for 17 years and wanting to play him in an Avengers movie.
