Netflix has given the green light for Season 2 of “XO, Kitty,” just a month after its initial release on May 18. According to Netflix, the show quickly gained popularity, securing second in the weekly Top 10 rankings. It accumulated an impressive 72.1 million hours of viewership.
“XO, Kitty” serves as a spinoff of Netflix’s successful “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” film franchise. The franchise is itself an adaptation of Jenny Han’s beloved series of young adult novels. The show centers around Kitty Song Covey, a teenage matchmaker who prides herself on her knowledge of love. However, when Kitty embarks on a journey halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend. She realizes that navigating matters of the heart is far more complicated when it’s her own emotions on the line.
Leading the cast is Anna Cathcart in the role of Kitty, alongside Minyeong Choi as Dae, Gia Kim as Yuri, Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho, Anthony Keyvan as Q, and Peter Thurnwald as Alex. The series also features the talents of Yunjin Kim as Jina, Sarayu Blue as Trina, John Corbett as Dan Covey, Michael K Lee as Professor Lee, Jocelyn Shelfo as Madison, and Regan Aliyah as Juliana.
Han, the creator of the series, takes on the role of co-showrunner and executive producer, alongside Sascha Rothchild. Matt Kaplan of ACE Entertainment also serves as an executive producer. The show is a joint production between ACE and Awesomeness Studios, delivering an exciting blend of talent and creativity.
“XO, Kitty” builds upon the success of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” which originally premiered on Netflix in 2018, followed by its sequels, “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” in 2020 and “To All the Boys: Always and Forever” in 2021. With the renewal of “XO, Kitty,” fans can look forward to further exploring Jenny Han’s storytelling on the small screen.
