Twitter relaunches its Blue Subscription Plan

Twitter is again going to launch its Blue subscription today, after abandoning a messy first attempt that led to scam accounts and a mess. Now Twitter is coming back with extra costs and more requirements.

The blue subscription cost is still $8 per month, but for Apple users, it exceeds $11. This is done to cover the 30% Apple takes from in-app purchases.

Moreover, one will have to first register a phone number that wishes to display a “verified checkmark” on their profile. You can update your profile photo, handle, and user name after that.

Twitter claims that the blue subscription will give its subscribers access to many features including tweets editing, uploading 1080p videos, and using reader mode. Fewer ads and priority in search results and replies are “coming soon”, according to the company.

Twitter will also add a gold checkmark to business accounts and a gray tick for government and multilateral accounts.

Twitter Blue verification was launched last month. But Elon Musk stopped it after two days because of spam and fake accounts.

Musk also said that the accounts would be reviewed manually before the blue checkmark appears in a person’s profile.
